With apologies to René Magritte, this is not a video about how to paint a wall in 60 seconds.
It’s actually a short entertainment about something astounding (that happens to be painting a wall). This is for people who want to watch something with no time commitment. It’s the fun-size of videos — hard to eat just one.
The title of the video grabs us viewers not because we’ll learn efficiency in painting, and not because we’ll learn efficiently how to paint, but because we’ll be efficiently entertained. Consciously or not, we’re all conditioned to recognize the potent promise of a video short … another car rushing by on the dopamine train.
I like this video because I’m more likely to paint a wall quickly and well. I don’t like this video does when combined with all the other entertainments in life, because I might never get around to painting anything.
I might as well go watch some paint dry…
